Re: Railroad Thread

Thank you, Mr. Snappy. It has been a while and we appreciate you're reminding us of Soviet Technology. Here is a short video showing a similar locomotive being used for mosquito abatement along the right of way near a group of track workers.

Re: Railroad Thread

Thanks for sharing that. It takes a lot of pull to move that derailed locomotive and lift it up onto the rerailing frogs. One can see that the driver was lightly applying and releasing the brakes to control wheel slip. (You can see the brake cylinder levers moving in one of the images.) Might have b...

Some more: The 32-year-old aircraft is a 747-481 BDSF with reg. TC-ACF, and was operating under a wet-lease arrangement as Emirates SkyCargo Flight 9788 from Dubai. AirACT is based in Turkey. Emirates confirmed the aircraft was carrying no cargo at the time. According to a statement from the Airport...

AA 100-Year Commemorative Livery

I remember the lightning bolt lines from my youth but at first, I thought the flagship script was some sort of April Fool's Day post. But if you scroll down, you can see a DC 3 painted just that way. Other AA commemorative liveries have been painted on A320's so it is nice to see a 777-300ER so embl...

Re: A380 troubles, the latest news...

Two A380's were recently pulled from storage. The one that flew briefly for wet lease company HiFly, recently travelled to Germany for maintenance and an unknown future while another, a former Malaysian Airlines plane, was dispatched to Abu Dhabi for retrofitting as a future test aircraft for Airbus...

Re: If Airbus made cars...

It is time to revisit the Trabant quality control process. Imagine you're the proud papa giving the family a ride in the new car after waiting 10 years for delivery. As you pull out of the driveway, you accidently drive over the curb flexing the body and now the door will never fit properly again. E...

It appeared the self-loading baggage adjusted the gear height more than the luggage.

Since Verbal now supports this aircraft type, perhaps he can provide some expert perspective.

See below from a dissenter. Let's see, the 757 received its FAA approval in December 1982. What was Airbus doing at that time? The widebody A310 was certified in 1983 and sold 255 units. It competed with the 767 which was certified in July 1982 and has sold more than 1300 units. The 757 sold more th...

I'm not able to open this link to Airline Geeks but the title of the article is: Spirit Pilots Told to Consider 'All Options." After reportedly furloughing 270 pilots and downgrading 140 captains to first officers it doesn't look promising. https://news.google.com/read/CBMihgFBVV95cUxNeU9UbFpJT...
